Can’t Sit Still? Why Your Body Keeps Chasing the Next Fix

Ever wonder why your nervous system keeps asking "what’s next?" In this video, I share a lesson from my sobriety journey about what cravings actually are. It is exhausting to be stuck in a cycle of dopamine fixes and quick comfort - food, online shopping, social media. The faster the cycle of instant gratification, the more addictive it is, and the less gratification there is. Eventually, you feel like a zombie. When I got sober, I realized that at the heart of all craving is a feeling we are trying to satisfy. That feeling masks itself as a physical urge, and if we stop there, the frustration kicks in. We ask ourselves, "What’s wrong with me that I can’t get a hold of this?" But if you watch it long enough, it always leads back to an emotional need. Join me for a quiet, unhurried somatic guided meditation at the end of this video to practice sitting with the restlessness, looking under the craving, and helping your body find the comfort that is already here.
